Nagpur: 23 years, Harpur Stadium remains incomplete, costs up five times

Nagpur: Even 23 years after construction began, the indoor stadium in Harpur on Jalan Umred in South Nagpur remained incomplete.
The cost of the project has increased five times, causing the loss of public money, and seizing facility sportsmen.
Now, Nagpur Inverbisent Trust (NIT) wants to take over the project for Operation and Maintenance (O & M) of the Development Authority of the Nagpur Metropolitan region (NMRDA), and issued a tender to appoint an O & M agent for the completed part.
Nit the supervisory board will make a decision about this on Monday.
The agenda itself mentions the Minister of Welfare of Sports and Teenagers Sunil Kedar on August 8, 2020, and September 29, 2020, directed NIT to transfer projects to the Department of Sports for O & M.
However, Chairman of Nit Manoj Kumar Suryawanshi has been looking for strength to make further decisions This project.
Nit has submitted 9.50 acres to the directorate of sports and adolescents for the sports complex in 1998.
In 2003, Nit signed an agreement with Maharashtra Kamgar Kalyan Mandal for project implementation.
Mandal is to build a stadium from Labor Fund in 2007.

The unity of building outside the indoor stadium for RS7.05 Crore until 2007, before the project was jammed.
In 2019, the Mandal gave RS10 Crore to NMRDA to complete the project.
Nmrda completes the leveling of the surface layer, badminton, carrom area, wall compound, drain storm water, internal road, etc.
Now, NMRDA requires RS49.56 Crore to complete the project.
This will require the total project costs to RS66.61 Crore, which is 5.5 times the initial fee.
Mandal spent RS17.05 Crore intends to welfare workers on the project, but left it in 2019.
Although there was a direction of Kedar, the mandal was also delayed giving NOC to NMRDA to transfer the project to the sports department.
Even the sports department has not provided administrative approval for additional expenditures RS49.56 Crore.
The government returned the power of the NIT Planning Authority a few months ago.
Quoting a lack of funds in NMRDA, NIT, who owns the land, wants to take over the project for O & M.
The source of Nit told Ti Nmrda Superintending Engineer Leena Upadhyay would suggest submitting the project to the sports department according to the direction of the Kedar.
