Nagpur: The city road has witnessed as many as 958 accidents on the road that claimed 269 lives, including 220 men and 49 women, wounding 966 people.
Compared to 2020, the number of road accidents had witnessed a sharp increase when City recorded 773 accidents killing 213 people and injuring 751 others.
However, in 2019, the road witnessed 1,007 accidents claiming the life of 250 people and left 1,042 injured in a road-related accident, revealing research conducted by the Nagpur city traffic police.
With the locking of almost four months in 2020, there was a significant decline in a road accident.
So, according to direction of the Director General of State Police (traffic), a road accident occurred in 2021 compared to the accident reported in 2019.
Compared to 2019, the total number of road accidents was reduced by 49 but fatal accidents watched a slight tendency to the north with reporting 18 More accidents.
Most of the accidents on the road in 2021 occurred as long as there was no traffic police presence on the road.
According to the study, as many as 453 accidents on the road occurred between 13 PM and 17pm and 9pm and 7 in the morning, where there was no traffic police on the road.
However, the two-wheeled and four-wheeled drivers are the highest number of vehicles spoiled in accidents on the road including fatal, serious and small.
275 two-wheeled and 274 wheels were involved in a road accident, which was attended by 177 heavy vehicles, 47 autorickshaws and 22 buses, including Aapli, ST and private buses.
Nagpur City Traffic Police Studies under the leadership of the Commissioner with the Aswati Police Dorje and Deputy Police Commissioner (Traffic) Awad Sarang also made some surprising revelations.
Internal roads are highways most likely to accidents in the city compared to state and national highways.
Internal roads in the city watched 677 accidents, while national highways and their respective countries recorded 236 and 46 of their respective accidents.
With the increase in accidents on the road, the traffic police have also initiated various steps, including launching special drives such as taking action against the entry of heavy vehicles during time without entering, use of cellphones while driving, breaking traffic signals etc.
Furthermore, motorists were involved in speeding speeds (22,158 cases in 2021), signal jump (40,098), without helmets (2.95,521), telephone use (48,470) ordered by traffic police.
Even the traffic police also implemented the actions of motorized vehicles who were amended to revise fines for traffic violations and also requested suspension of driving licenses for various violations, including riding without helmets, the use of the wrong cellphone.
However, traffic experts emphasized the need for self-discipline among the driver.
If we drive carefully, the accident on the road will automatically fall, said Raju Wagh from Jeevan Surakha Prakalp NGO.
Wagh has launched a ‘accident-free accident’ campaign and has actively organized various conscious camps in and around the city.
