Nagpur: Dewulkar Jagdish, 80, driving without a helmet with a 70-year-old wife to Sewantabai as a pillion on the scooter they met with an accident and surrendered on the wounds on August 7, four months later, the police had registered a violation of him because it caused his own death for driving Lalai.
Dewulkar’s couple driving on the road between Kanji House Chowk and Rani Durgawati Chowk, while returning from a birthday party in a crowded nagar in Jaripatka in August 3.
They met an accident around 10pm.
Jagdish, who was driving on the wrong side, failed to balance his scooter while turning, and they both fell.
Even though Rewanabai escaped was not hurt, Jagdish suffered a substantial injury.
He rushed to a personal hospital near Rani Durgawati Chowk but then shifted to Indira Gandhi Government Medical College and Hospital (IGGMCH).
The doctor stated he died on August 7, the police chamber in the hospital warned Yashodhara Nagar police about Jagdish death.
Police Yashodhara Nagar enrolled a case of unintentional death under the code of criminal procedure 174.
Post-Mortem was also carried out at IGGMCH.
After a prolonged investigation, along with Post-Mortem and other reports, the police wanted to submit a summary of cases of death before ACP Jaripatka Division Roshan Pandit.
However, ACP decided that according to the case the case needs to be registered with senior citizens, holding him responsible for the negligent driving that caused the accident.
Senior Inspector Sanjay Jadhav from Police Station Yashodhara Nagar said the senior citizen was technically responsible because he had driven a two-wheeled vehicle on the wrong side and took a turn which caused him to lose balance and suffered an injury.
“We will now send a summary of a case that subsides to the court, informs of the deaths accused of this case,” he said.
