Nagpur: Nagpur Zonal Unit from the Directorate General of GST Intelligence (DGGI) has arrested four people because it was allegedly created a fake business entity and utilized Rs 10.79 Crore’s fraud input tax credit, said an official on Thursday.
As part of a sustainable effort on false invoices and non-existent entities, Zonal Nagpur unit officials conducted several searches inside and around Nagpur, releases released by DGGI.
The agency has received a tip-off of four entities, which is not at the address stated and has uploaded false documents as proof of business, he said.
The four entities have uploaded the same fake document set and have taken GST registration at the same address, which shows that they are false, the official said.
“Document analysis revealed that this false entity was involved in fictitious transactions more than Rs 53.95 Crore, utilizing a fraud input tax credit (ITC) from Rs 10.79 Crore, and has passed this fraudulent ITC to other entities.
