Nagpur: Musormycosis is generally known to affect eyeballs, teeth and nose systems or brains.
But now, it has been found to have attracted the large intestine of a 70-year-old patient from the city.
Already lost his left last month, the man was treated at a seven-star hospital on July 19 after mushrooms eating recurrence in the base of his skull, threatening the right eye too.
A month ago, Covid’s restored person was treated at another private hospital after the first attack of black mushrooms.
The Septuagenarian has complained of abdominal pain while undergoing treatment for relapse mukormycosis.
The doctor decided to overcome both skull bones and abdominal pain in single anesthesia.
However, in laparoscopy, they cannot find anything unusual correlating with abdominal pain.
Dr.
Prashant Friendly, Endoscopic and Laparoscopic Surgeons, said that the colonoscopy was carried out several times in a private hospital before not found anything.
“When the patient shifts to our hospital, we do laparoscopy.
When the blood pressure is low, we put the tube and remove the pus before covering the stomach,” said Dr.
Rahit, who is also a hospital director.
After surgery, the patient continued to complain of pain in the stomach and began to swell.
“After two days, we returned to laparotomy.
Black mushrooms were found in a 6-inch portion of the sigmoid large intestine.
Medical literature has recorded such mukormycosis incidents,” he said, adding that such cases rarely occur.
Dr.
Rahit agreed that it might be the first case among post-covid patients in the district.
