Nagpur: In a large development for the city, Nagpur has joined the UN initiative about zero which has begun in Maharashtra by the Minister of Environment Aaditya Thackeray.
The zero race is the largest credible alliance of companies, cities, countries, regions, investors, universities and all actors as a whole aim to reduce half of carbon emissions by 2030 and individually committed to achieving zero emissions in 2040 in 2040 in 2040.
Recording a seven-fold increase in drought events and a six-fold increase in the frequency of extreme flood events and increasing number of deaths from chronic respiratory diseases in the state, the government has joined the 43 city initiative where the world is part of.
As part of this initiative, the city will prevent future climate threats, create jobs and unlock sustainable growth.
The participating city will also report greenhouse gas emissions and strategies to reduce this in the middle of the century, in line with the Paris agreement to limit global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius.
With Nagpur joining the race to zero, these countries hope that the city will lead the road to the null route.
City is the solution to deal with climate change.
One of the things that Maharashtra did was to ensure that the debit standards and emissions set by the pollution control board were followed.
We do not say that the country will now move away from becoming an industrial electric house or financial hub that is.
We are very important for the country in terms of finance or industry, but we need to ensure that the promises made in terms of emissions and discharge are followed, “said Minister of Environment Aaditya Thackeray.
Commissioner of Municipal Nagpur (NMC) Radhakrishnan B stated that City would see a challenge C40 as a way to develop itself into a sustainable city with a model to show the world that growth with equity and sustainability is possible.
“We are in the midst of changing our public transport bus into electricity.
We also come up with a broad general bicycle sharing network to promote non-motorized transportation in the city.
Nagpur has completed the climate action plan that will be launched soon, “he said.
Stressing that there is an urgent need for transit from what we today become a climate-friendly, Thackeray added,” All governments and sub-governments such as Maharashtra need to learn that this is climate emergency.
We need to go beyond our own discussion and reorientation in terms of what we call development for sustainable development.
Every aspect of policy, both roads or buildings of dams or airports, need to pass the climate test.
We need development, but if we have sustainable development, we will have an impact mitigation of climate change and adaptation.
