Nagpur: Taking knowing the Toi report, Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has slapped the fine RS2.25 Crore on Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited (RJIL) for various violations.
RJIL has dug trenches in tar and cement roads, although they only have permits for horizontal drilling, and also conducted lower quality restoration.
Toi has been on December 28, 2021, reported a trench of tar on Jalan Tar in Sahakar Nagar to lay the fiber optic cable even though the civil body gave permission to execute horizontal hdd) drilling technology.
The NMC Laxmi Nagar Zone engineer and Hotmix Department knew about it but didn’t start any action.
After the Toi report, the Commissioner of the City of Radhakrishnan B directed the Hotmix department engineer to verify and take the necessary actions.
Thus, the Hotmix department team led by the Chauhech executive engineer checked the works carried out by RJIL.
“Rjil was given permission to execute work through HDD technology in tar and in inter-locking tiles on the concrete side of the cement.
But Rjil dug ditches in three locations – Sahakar Nagar, Jaitala and Ajni.
Therefore, the fine RS2.25 Crore has been slapped RJIL, “said an engineer from the Hotmix NMC Department.
The engineer also said RJIL was directed to stop working with direct effects.
“We will ensure restoration work, and then make a decision to give permission to restart the work,” he said.
A spokesman for RJIL guaranteed to provide a version but then did not respond to Ti’s call and RJIL message had dug ditches along the inter-locking tiles of concrete cement road between Ajni Square and Chuna Bhatti Square.
RJIL restoration on inter-locking tiles is of poor quality.
Telecommunications companies do not recover inter-locking tiles correctly, making this road parts be useless for traffic.
Also, clouds of dust rise every time the vehicle passes through this section.
The road is also compressed on this stretch, thus imposing it because of the lower quality of work.
The path has also been damaged to a certain extent.
The NMC Hotmix Department has collected punishment to sharpen the road and has not collected a fine for bad restoration.
The Civic body will suffer a big loss if you restore the stretch of ajni with its own costs.
RJIL has begun to recover a ditch in Sahakar Nagar.
NMC has given permission to put the fiber optic cable using an HDD for around 70 km in various parts of the city.
Rjil put the cable to launch 5G in the city and reportedly finished working at around 40 km.
RJIL has placed cable throughout the city in 2015 to launch 4G.
Two-year-old toddlers who allegedly fell into the ditch were excavated by RJIL in North Ambazari Road and died.
A violation was registered at the Sitabuldi police station.
At that moment, RJIL was found to violate the norm and face a penalty after the Toi report.
