Nagpur: The hardest phase in the second wave of Covid-19 is when hospitals face acute drug shortages such as remedies, tovilizumab and the most important – oxygen.
In the third wave hit term, most of these problems have been fixed.
In addition, doctors and administration also better understand the drugs / drugs / injections which are more in demand and when.
Local producers have built capacity to produce these injections at the mass level.
Distribution of drugs at administrative and personal levels may now.
Most of the fact that relieves that many new drugs / drugs have received approval drug controllers from India (DCGI) for emergency use.
“We have an antibody cocktail available for high-risk populations, which we have to wait and observe in the two early waves,” said Dr.
Ashwini Tookis, a specialist of infectious diseases.
Indicated for limited use in emergency cases, cocktails can treat covid-19 which are light to medium to adults and children who are at high risk of developing severe disease and do not require oxygen.
In May 2021, the Central Medicine Standard Control Organization (CDSCO) provided authorization of Emergency Use (EUA) to antibody cocktails in India.
Cipla locally produces in the country.
Cipla has noted that cocktails show the ability to reduce the risk of hospitalization and death of 70% and reduce the duration of four-day symptoms.
Intensive Care Specialist Dr.
Nirmal Jaiswal is also the main researcher for the trial of stem cell therapy, the final phase that will begin on the possibility of the third wave.
“This therapy has shown extraordinary results in the initial phase of the human trial.
We hope that it will be a game changer in the third wave,” said Dr.
Jaiswal.
The pharmacist wants the right distribution of new drugs.
“Virafine from Zydus Cadila can play an important role in the third wave.
The government must make adequate vertafin supply throughout the country,” said Pharmacist Kailas Tandale, who heads the Association of Maharashtra registered pharmacists (MRPA).
“Apart from drugs, the government must approve more vaccines to accelerate inoculation and allow pharmacists to store doses for open market sales,” he said.
Another important drug 2-deoxy-D-glucose (2-DG) has been commercially launched in India ahead of the third wave on June 28.
2-DG was developed by the Institute of Nuclear Medicine & Allied Sciences (INMAS), a laboratory of research and defense development organizations (DRDO), working with Dr.
Reddy’s.
This is oral medicine.
It can be given for medium covid patients until severe.
Drdo claims that the drug is effective against all virus variants.
“Ideally, 2-dg must be prescribed as early as possible by the doctor for medium covid patients to severe for a maximum duration of up to 10 days,” read the Drdo Guidelines at 2-DG.
A senior member of Covid District Satgas told TI that the most important drug for Covid-19 patients was oxygen.
“Whether it’s favipiravir or remdesivir or Todilizumab – no drugs that are proven to have benefited mortality in Covid-19.
Even new drugs are still to prove whether they live savers or not.
But, everyone knows the importance of oxygen,” said the doctor.
“The need and supply of oxygen is the largest drug for treating Covid-19 and has been treated well after the second wave of disasters,” he added.
