Nagpur: Optional General Entering Test (CET) to enter the Affiliate State Council of Junior College has raised a mixed reaction from academics.
CET was held because the SSC theory test (STD X) was canceled this year because of Covid’s pandemic.
So, to have a benchmark for reception, an optional CET plan is designed.
Some academics in Nagpur felt that having a cet without purpose because the supply demand matrix was prevalent in the region.
A senior principal, who did not want to be identified, said, “The aim of having a CET is to choose the best candidates available for a number of seats.
But in Nagpur, we have a large number of empty seats at the Junior Higher Education level.
In the city alone, we have flat- Average 18,000 empty seats, so it’s not necessary for a cet.
“While CET is optional, some academics feel there will be pressure on them to go with CET.
The Principal said, “Come on school students, I submit a request to enter a college and have a very good value.
But the college might feel that the sign has not been given properly then want students to take CET.
I just feel this doesn’t need to add administrative burden and logistics.

A principal from City Junior College said, “I think CET is rather good.
