Nagpur: In a surprising incident, some unknown people entered the house of a senior income tax department official at Nagpur Maharashtra and fled with valuables worth Rs 2.2 lakh.
The incident occurred in the Board of Commissioners I-T, Nagpur, Rajesh Ranjan Dinanath Prasad, in the income tax colony in the Seminary Hills Nagpur area and was revealed on Monday, officials from the Gittikhan police station.
Prasad went to Mumbai on August 6 to visit relatives.
In his absence, some people violated the key to his house and allegedly put to sleep with 60,000 RS cash and gold necklaces were stored in the closet, the official said.
The incident was revealed on Monday morning when Prasad returned to Nagpur, he said.
After being told, Gittikhan police rushed to the place and registered the case, he added.
