Nagpur: Nagpur slipped to the 23rd among the cities with a population of more than 10 lakh in the results of Swachh Survekshan 2021 which was announced by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs on Saturday.
In 2020, the city had won 18th.
This time, the city scored 3721.83 values from 6,000 in a survey conducted in 48 cities in various parameters including feedback from citizens.
Pimpri-Chinchwad and Aurangabad Cities increased their rank and each secured the 19th and 22nd position.
Nagpur was in front of them in last year’s survey.
Chandrapur City stood in 11th place after scoring 4700.80 marks in the city category with 1 lakh up to 10 lakh populations.
Wardha City was in 52st place with a score of 3782.24, while Amravati secured 54th place with a score of 3782.24 marks in the same category.
In the 10-40 lakh population category, Nagpur scored 1,865.91 (from 2,400) in the progress of the level of service, 500 and 1355.91 in open defecation (maximum sign of 700) and the vote of citizens (1,800 maximum).
NMC has scored zero in City Free City (GFC) ranked earlier this year, which affects the overall ranking.
In 2020 the city had secured similar signs in the GFC category.
Because of the performance of Abysmal in the GFC ranking, the city only scored 500 of 1,500 in the certification category.
500 mark is given because of ODF ++ certification.
Green Vigil Activists and Former Ambassador Mission Swaush Bharat NMC, Kaustav Chatterjee said: “Once again we failed in certification.
Surprisingly, last year we have scored 500 of 1,500 and maintain the same score this year.
This clearly shows we failed In our efforts to get the desired certification.
“Toi has reported about poor sanitation management by NMC.
Even though it pays more money to two private agents – Ag Enviro and BVG India – Door-to-door garbage collection has failed to improve.
In fact, it has deteriorated further, forcing the Mayor of Dayashankar Tiwari to be an inquiry committee led by the ruling party leader and Senior BJP Corporator Avinash Thakre.
Chatterjee said, “Without a solid waste treatment plant, we will never be able to enter the first 10 because about 40% of the total sign assigned to collect solid waste, transportation and treatment.
We cannot score under the GFC even afterwards appoint two new agents With new infrastructure, garbage collection is not in accordance with the target.
