Nagpur: The NHAI project director among 3 removed more than the embracule

Nagpur: Stung by the collapse of the superstructure of 30 meters from the Kalamna Bridge, which is part of Pardi Flyover, the National Highway Authority (NHAI) on Thursday removed NL Yeotkar, project director of the project implementation unit (PIU-I), and two others.
Pardi Flyover’s work was executed by the joint venture of Gannon Dunkerley & Company Limited (GDCL) and SMS Infrastructure Limited.
On the 19th night of October, the 30 meter segment (superstructure) was sebebebang from Kalamna to the city of HB slipped from the P7 dock and fell to the ground, causing a large loss and carrying traffic to the grinding stop.
NHAI Regional Officer (RO) Rajeev Agrawal confirmed to the Toi that Yeotkar, who was responsible for the Pardi Flyover project, has shifted to the regional office in the civil line.
He will be replaced by Naresh Wadetwar, who is a General Manager (Technical).
To maintain transparency in the investigation, Yeotkar has shifted for an unlimited period.
Agrawal said, “Likewise, Vijay Ahire, who works as a project manager with GDCL contractor, Mumbai, has been exemplified for one year with a direct effect.” GDCL, which built the Kalamna bridge and worked on other Pardi flyovers, known as one of the expert agents on the bridge.
Agrawal said, “We have also suspended the Chairman of the LASA Team, Vipul Chakravarty, who works on the Flyover Pardi project.” LASA is involved in the flyover design which includes bearing design too.
The top Nhai officers said the action was at the regional level against those who had become a prime facie responsible for the incident.
“Nhai will take more stringent actions as the high level of three members committees the report,” said Agrawal.
Agrawal said on Wednesday, Alok Kumar, Member (Administration), NHAI, Delhi, had visited the site and issued instructions.
On Thursday, Vinay Gupta, Director of Tandon Consultant, one of the well-known companies in the construction of the bridge, also visited the site.
He will be one of the high-level committe members who will investigate the incident.
The source said the other members of the Central Road Research Institute (CRRI), a Laboratory of the Scientific Council Council and Industrial Research and Industrial Research (CSIR), will soon conduct site visits.
