Nagpur University expands the insurance scheme to parents disabled, guardian

Nagpur: Expanding the benefits of insurance cover proposed for the cost of students in the death of parents or law guardians, the Member Committee of the Nagpur University Management Board has decided to also enter the disability suffered by parents and guardians.
The insurance scheme will be implemented from the current session (2021-22).
The panel, however, decided to bring down his plan to extend Covid-19 protection for more than 3.5 lakh students because the premium costs work too high.
In a marathon meeting held on Monday, members also decided to include disabilities to students involved in various sports activities.
In addition, they completed the name of the new insurance scheme as ‘Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Vidyarthi Vima Yojana’.
Toi on July 23 has reported in detail about NU’s decision to offer insurance schemes to cover costs if the death of the parents or guardians of the students.
The head of the Vishnu Changde committee told Ti that during the discussion discussed that parents of many students suffered defects due to crash or prolonged illness and still lying in bed.
“In such cases, they lose income.
Because the amount of insurance is given only after death, we cannot let students suffer from desirable funds.
Therefore, we have decided to enter the disability that occurs in every parent / law guardian during the term of office of insurance scheme , “he said.
Even students who suffer from sports injuries such as fractures will get some money as a replacement in a new scheme.
They can get claims from 1% -75%, depending on the nature of the injury.
The NU panel has compiled a standard operating procedure (SOP) to implement the scheme.
This will be part of the agreement with the insurance company, which will soon be resolved.
On Monday, the panel has detailed discussions with two to three insurance companies about their offer.
The panel has decided to concentrate the implementation of the insurance scheme given the fact that NU has more than 500 universities spread across four districts.
“If the scheme must be registered under the university, it will be a long process of signaling and completing claims, because permission from the legal entity must be searched every time,” Changde said.
The university has decided to entrust the principal, which will register students and even help resolve claims.
“They will become a nodal authority for students from their institutions,” Changde said.
The Coordination Panel for the NU insurance scheme has decided to form a central coordination panel to implement and supervise insurance schemes correctly.
It will meet twice a year to review the scheme implementation and also see complaints, if any.
“Reception is completed on different dates for all colleges.
The scheme will start from the day a student confirmed his seat.
We have decided to provide 10 days to college to send a list of students received for registration under the scheme along with checks or DD.
The central panel will keep all these problems, “Changde said.
