Bengaluru: The criminal gang allegedly kidnapped a 35-year-old taxi driver from Kr Puram in their efforts to recover the money he borrowed from the main suspect, forced him to strip and do a snake dance.
The police said the gang recorded his dance and shared a video on two groups of WhatsApp, where the main defendant and the victim were members.
Police Kr Puram has taken a criminal case based on complaints submitted by Sujatha, the victim’s wife said, against the gang.
However, the main suspect, Dayal Manju aka Puli Manju, left for US a day after a case was registered against him.
D Devaraj, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Whitefield), said the case was registered on Monday and the police knew that the main suspect went to the US through Delhi on Tuesday.
Active investigation to track and arrest other suspects.
According to the preliminary probe, manju and sathish belonging to the same community.
A few months ago, Manju, a fortune teller, had given Sathish Rs 2 Lakh.
Then, Manju complained to the leaders of his community, said Sathish had not returned the money.
On Saturday, Manju allegedly kidnap with while saying in the car and taking him close to Mulbagal in Kolar.
The gang forced him to lift his clothes and made him do a snake dance.
They recorded it and shared it on two groups of Whatsapp from their community.
Gang released it later.
The incident was revealed on Monday, when Sathish sister saw the video in the WhatsApp group and told her wife Sujatha.
Sujatha rushed to the police station Kr Puram and filed a complaint against Manju and other unknown people.
The police registered a case below the IPC section 364a (kidnapping for ransom), 368 (hiding incorrectly or maintaining in confinement, kidnapped, or kidnapped by people), 34 (actions carried out by several people in the continuation of general intentions) and part 66e acting (punishment for Privacy violations) against the gang.
Probe is further active.
