Namma Metro hasn’t bridged the last mile connectivity gap

Bengaluru: While the state government has allowed electric bicycle taxis in the city, commuting felt more transportation options needed for and from the metro station to ensure better and better last connectivity.
Namma Metro has been operating since 2011 but users have complained about the bad frequency of BMTC feeder services.
Corporations are used to run 173 metro feeder buses before pandemic; The number has been dipped in 39.
“Most of these services run under losses, making it difficult to increase frequency.
Demand is also reduced after Covid.
If BMRCL provides a violability gap fund, we can operate more services,” said a senior BMTC official.
BMRCL was previously tied with a rental scooter company such as Bounce and Yulu on several stations, but only a few locations have facilities now.
Some companies such as Rides Loca (CAB sharing) and automatic electrical services such as Pepride and Hail App by Namma Auto have overcome operations.
Metro Phase Daily Ridership is 5 lakh in February 2020.
After the concept of a pandemic and work-from-house, it has dropped to 1.2 lakh.
A 2016 Survey by the World Resources Institute found that 70% of Potential Bengaluru Metro users quoted their first connectivity and bad miles as a reason not to use it.
The passenger approach is associated with a lack of the first solution and a comprehensive mile to connect homes and offices with a metro station.
Resident Horamavu Aswathy S said: “There is a lack of bus services from the Byappanahalli Metro station to Horamavu and Ramamurthynagar.
I am not comfortable driving a two-wheeled vehicle with strangers, so I don’t want to use a bicycle taxi.
Auto sharing electricity will be useful for many people.” One BMRCL officials said: “We have provided Bays buses at the new phase 2 station and have been tied with companies such as bounce and yulu.
We are not in a position to provide VGF to BMTC because we also suffered losses.
BMTC operates a bus based on traffic surveys They.
We are open to working with different stakeholders to improve the first and final connectivity.
“Need more support from BMRCL, say the companySgiS Nagpal, CEO & founder of the metroride, which operates Autos’s electricity, said:” We have used 40 e- Autos on two stations: Konanakunte Cross and Yelachenahalli.
L Ayanan will start in Indiranagar and Rajajinagar soon.
We charge the Minimum RS 10 tariff.
Response from Metro users has been good, but we need more support from BMRCL for pick-up and drop-off points and also to create awareness among passengers.
“Startup used to provide the last mile connectivity says:” It is not feasible to run the service, especially after a pandemic.
But BMRCL does not provide a parking lot or expedit data, or create awareness at the Metro station.
“BMTC officials said there was no bus buncot at most of the metro station.” We plan to induce 90 non-AC electric feeder buses from next month, “said an official.
With most stations that are not equipped with parking facilities, Metro users usually say BMRCL must encourage electricity sharing cars, electric midi buses and prepaid automatic counters.
The implementation of public mobility cards will also help, they add.
