Naomi Osaka still Place to play Wimbledon, say organisers

LONDON: Wimbledon organisers state Japanese celebrity Naomi Osaka remains to play in the Grand Slam event that begins later this month also hasn’t given any sign she’ll bypass it.
Even the 23-year-old four-time Grand Slam winner stated after her withdrawal in the French Open she had been taking a time from this match as she struggles depression and stress.
But on Wednesday All England Club chief executive Sally Bolton stated as matters stood Osaka are in the championships, which get under way on June 28.
“We have reached out for her staff, we have not talked to Naomi herself,” said Bolton.
“At this time she has entered to the championships and we still have not received confirmation that she will not compete.” Tournament director Jamie Baker stated he’d advised Osaka’s entourage the telephone lines were open to talk about any problems which may arise.
“I had the talk with her staff,” explained Baker.
“It is absolutely obvious that we are here, we are fully open for any talks when they need that.
It goes without saying that people need the very best players competing no matter what.” World number two Osaka was in the spotlight because withdrawing in the French Open.
She had been fined $15,000 and threatened with disqualification out of Roland Garros after she refused to honor compulsory media responsibilities.
French Open organisers whined they had treated with”attention and respect” when they had been accused of being sporadically.
Osaka dropped in the next round of Wimbledon in 2017 and 2018 and bowed from the first round in 2019.
Last year’s championship was cancelled because of coronavirus.
