World number two Naomi Osaka, which withdrew from France Open and Wimbledon this year with the reason mental health, will compete in Montreal next month, the Canadian event organizer said on Wednesday.
Osaka, the four-time gland champion which is one of the prospects of the best gold medal in Japan at the Tokyo Olympics, will be part of the field in US tune-up until August 9-15 which currently displays 18 Top 20 WTA.

The committee also said Champion Wimbledon and World number one Barty Ash, Number Three Aryna Sabalenka from Belarus, former Winner of Elina Svitolina from Ukraine and defending champion Bianca Andreescu was also among those who confirmed their participation.
“We are happy to welcome people like Ashleigh Barty, Naomi Osaka and Aryna Sabalenka, as well as Bianca Andreescu, which we know will get a reception for centuries from our passionate fans in Montreal,” said Montreal tournament director Eugene Lalierre said in a News release.
The 2020 edition was canceled due to Covid-19 pandemic.
Andreescu won the program two years ago when held in Toronto before going to become Canadian’s first Grand Slam champion that year.
“As a Canadian, this tournament has a special place in my heart and always likes to play in front of the best fans in the world,” World number five Andreescu said in the news release.
“Winning the Open National Bank in 2019 is a dream come true, and I hope I can defend the title next month in Montreal.”
