Kolkata: Leading Kartonist Narayan Debnath – The creator of an unforgettable character like Batul The Great, Nante and Fante – Exhumpered the latter on Tuesday morning in a hospital in Bengal Bengal Barat Kolkata.
He is 97.
Debnath – which has not saved well for the past three weeks – not responding to treatment.
When Debnath was awarded Padma Shri in 2021, several artists, including Samir Aich, questioned respecting him so late.
He was active as a cartoonist for more than seven decades.
In the early years, he also worked with advertising agencies and film poster designed.
Debnath created Batul in the early 1960s.
He also illustrates detective series books.
Cartoonists and writers will have been remembered as people who entertain children.
His character has been involved with the growth of children’s days as Batul’s comic strip began publishing in Shuktara’s children’s magazines.
Head of West Bengal Minister Mamata Banerjee and Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar expressed condolences to families and followers of cartoonists late.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi was also tweeted to register the death of Narayan Debnath.

At the hospital too, he used his expertise and tried to draw a cartoon.
His body was taken to his Howrah’s house before cremation.
