Pune / Mumbai: Two Dubai Returnees, a 39-year-old woman from Narhe and a 33-year-old man from Latunges was tested positive for the Omicron variant on Monday.
So far, 12 people have been tested positive for the omicron strain of the virus in Pune District.
From them, five have been discarded after repeated Covid tests find them negative for transmission after a few days of isolation.
Narhe woman, who is an IT professional, has been tested negatively for Covid after he arrived from Dubai on December 1, all of his family members were tested negative for Covid.
“He was fully vaccinated and had not developed any disease.
He was isolated at the Civic-Run Hospital in Baner as a precautionary measure,” said Dr.
Sanjeev Wavare, Peune Municipal Corporation’s Nodal Officer for Covid-19.
Patients from the latch have landed at Mumbai International Airport on December 3, confirming Dr.
Hanmant Wadgave, district health workers.
He said the man’s sample was collected for RT-PCR on December 8 and then found positive.
The man has mild symptoms at first but not tested or report to the authorities.
District health officials contacted him as part of their supervision of all who returned foreign and collecting the sample for testing.
Wadgave said the man was immediately treated at the covid treatment center after he tested positive.
“From the day of his arrival for his test positive, he had met several people.
However, he always wore a mask and it might be the reason why other people did not catch infection,” he said.
Three high-risk men’s contacts include two children, which has also been tested negatively.
To this day, 20 cases of omicron variants have been reported in the state, including five from Mumbai, 10 of the city limits of Pimbri Chinchwad, two of the pune municipal limits, and each of Kalyan Dombival, Nagpur, and the Latry.
From these cases, nine have been repatriated after a negative RT-PCR test.
