Ahmedabad: The longest overbridge in the city of Ahmedabad will appear in the Naroda Patia area in the eastern part of the city in 2025, to overcome the problem of traffic congestion in the area.
Overbridge Four lines will be 2.5 km long and will be built at a cost of Rs 165 Crore.
The proposed overbridge will connect Naroda Patia and the Galaxy Crossroads.
“Demand for Overbridge in Naroda Patia was waiting for the past three years, as a congestion in Naroda Patia Y-Junction near the old national highway, Cinema Devi and Galaxy Cinema increased and it became a nightmare for commuters,” A word officer Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation ( AMC).
The official said the Municipal Gujarat (GMFB) Finance Board, the state government authority for civil finance, has approved the RS 55 Crore budget for small lunch at Naroda Patia Junction.
However, this solves the problem with only one intersection.
“The revised proposal was then made for longer overbridge, which will cross the three intersections.
After the proposal was made, the feasibility study was carried out.
Proposal and feasibility reports were given a principle approval at the AMC road and building committee meeting on Monday,” he said.
The official added that the GMFB, which has approved the RS 55 Crore, will provide an additional Rs 110 Crore under the Urban Urban Development Scheme of Swarnim Jayanti.
The Civic body has written to the GMFB and the Department of Urban Development, requesting additional funds.
The consultant hired for the overbridge project has prepared a design, investigating land testing and making reports of feasibility.
According to reports of feasibility, on completion, Overbridge will make commuting finer more than 1.50,000 commuters every day and reduce regional traffic congestion by 75%.
It will also have parking facilities below.
