NASA completed a rocket machine test series for lunar missions

Washington: NASA has successfully completed a rocket engine test series for the upcoming mission to the moon and, in the end, Mars.
The US Space Agency conducted a single RS-25 engine test series at the Stennis Space Center near Bay St Louis in Mississippi on September 30, the agency said in a statement.
“This successful test series for the RS-25 space launch system puts us one step closer to producing the first new set of machines for future artemis missions to the moon,” said Johnny Heflin, the Office of the SLS Liquid Machine Office at NASA’s Marshall in NASA The center of the spacecraft in Huntsville, Alabama, in the statement.
“We are testing engine parts made with sophisticated manufacturing techniques that can reduce the cost of each machine with more than 30 percent but still maintain the reliability of RS-25 engine and high performance,” Hefin added.
During the test, hot fire, the operator fired the Development Machine RS-25 No.
0528, used for each of the seven tests in the series, for more than eight minutes (500 seconds), the same time is needed during the actual launch.
The test series provides valuable information to Aerojet Rocketdyne – Lead Contractor for SLS machines – because it produces machines to be used after artemis IV mission to the moon, said NASA.
Operators collect hot fire data to show and verify various engine capabilities, and to evaluate new machinery components produced with cutting-edge technology and cost-effective and reduce operational risk.
This test was initially delayed due to the impact of the Ida storm, which crashed into the Gulf Coast region on August 29.
NASA built SLS as the strongest rockets in the world.
Four RS-25 machines, along with a pair of solid rocket booster, will help Power SL during the launch.
Sacking simultaneously, the machine will produce a combination of 1.6 million pounds pushed off and 2 million pounds during climbing.
With Artemis, NASA will land the first woman and the first person color on the surface of the moon and build long-term exploration on the moon in preparation for the human mission to Mars.
SLS and Orion Spacecraft, along with a commercial human landing system and gateway in orbit around the moon, is the backbone of NASA for deep extraterrestrial exploration.
This body works towards the launch of the Artemis I flight test in the coming months, which will open the way for the future mission.
