Nashik: This city has pocketed the 17th place in Nationwide ‘Swachh Survekshan (SS) 2021’ announced by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs.
In the country, Nashik City is ranked 4th – after Navi Mumbai, Pune and Thane.
Last year, the city was ranked 11th in the country.
Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) officials said they were not satisfied with the results of this year, but promised to do better during the next Swachh Survekshan.
More than 4,000 cities with a population of at least 10 lakh have participated in Swachh Survekshan 2021.
Nashik City has scored 4.248 from 6,000 values to become 17th net cities in India this year.
It receives 2,080 of 2,400 marks in the service level program (SLP), which is the documentation of the project.
It scored 700 of 1,800 in free city rating (GFC), and 1,467 of 1,800 marks in the category of resident feedback.
Commissioner NMC Kailas Jadhav said that for 2021 SS, the city could not work well in the city ranking area of garbage free and the feedback of citizens who led the city became a decrease in ranking from 11 to 17 years.
“But we will improve in these two areas during Swachh Survekshan 2022 and increase our ranking to make it among the 10 big cities cleaned in this country,” Jadhav said.
Avesh Palod, director of the NMC solid waste department, said he was not satisfied with the city’s performance at SS 2021.
The city was lagged in the field of construction and disassembly (C & D) waste management.
“But the project for recycling and management of C & D waste has been in the tender process and we are sure to launch this project,” Palod said.
“Other areas that we cannot do well are citizen feedback.
Efforts must be made to increase this area,” added Palod.
In 2019 and 2020, the city was ranked 63rd and 67 in the category of clean cities.
But city hygiene rating has increased by 2020 because the city has ranked 11th in the country and the second in Maharashtra.
