Nashik: Four people were killed and someone was seriously injured when a container truck jumped over the road divider and crashed into a car in Mumbai-Agra Highway in Nashik Maharashtra district on Wednesday night, police said.
The deceased was identified as Rizwan Iqbal Qureshi (30), Huzefa (Sonu) Azeem Ansari (30), Zuber Iqbal Sheikh (36) and Sohail Achheel Pathan (23), all residents of the old Nashik area in the city of Nashik.
They returned to town from Igatpuri when the accident occurred near Wadivarhe at around 6:30 a.m., an official said.
A container truck towards Mumbai jumped over the divider because the driver loses control while trying to avoid two-wheeled vehicles.
The truck hit the car going in the opposite direction, the official said.
Four people in the car died in place while Nadeem Rauf Sayyad, another passenger, received a serious injury, he said.
Sayyad was accepted at a private hospital in the city and his condition was said to be serious.
