Nashik: The District Health Department has begun drive Covid-19 vaccination specifically for people such as homeless people, daily bets and other people who do not have identity documentation.
When things stand, the vaccine receiver was asked to register with the Cowin portal using their cellphone number and identity card issued by the government.
“Because these people do not have cellphone numbers or documentation, we set a special drive,” Deputy collector and coordinator for the Ganesh vaccination program for example.
The drive is being carried out by a special session or using a certificate issued by local Panchayat grams.
“There are ‘special session’ options for people without identity cards (PWI), where the number of local selected mobile representatives or similar people are used.
This session is made and then, evidence of individual identity is not needed,” said Dr.
Shailesh Nikam, Health Officer Taluka Nashik, who oversees vaccination in this district.
In this way, some people – both at home, a group of beggars or even migrant workers – can be exchanged together and given a vaccine.
There is a second process if the amount is too low.
“We take a certificate about the beneficiaries of the Gram Panchayat and use the outer number as identity.
The cellphone number can be from each selected representative, health workers or workers,” said Dr.
Nilesh Sonawane, Talegaon Health Officer from Malegaon.
Authorities say that 500 people like that have been vaccinated in Nashik’s countryside so far.
Similar drives have not started in Nashik City.
“We have vaccinated in an old house so far.
Post-diwali, we will do more special sessions,” said Dr.
Ajeta Salunke, NMC immunization officials.
