Nashik: Civic Administration has increased the steps to destroy mosquito breeding sites with cases of dengue fever and chikungunya continue to rise in the city.
The city has so far registered 214 cases of dengue fever in August such as against 185 months ago.
Likewise, the city has registered 156 new cases of Chikungunya this month compared to 147 cases in July.
The total number of cases of dengue and chikungunya fever increased to 480 and 388, since the beginning of this year.
The health department of Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) has decided to slap the fine of RS200 every owner of residntial and commercial establishment if the place of mosquito breeding is found in their respective places.
Commissioner NMC Kailas Jadhav has directed health officials to increase spraying activities and make encouragement to destroy mosquito breeding spots.
NMC Health Rajendra Trimbake said the rain spell with a long gap inside has caused an increase in mosquito breeding spots.
“We’ve started taking steps to destroy mosquito breeding spots and mobilize our teams in each of the six NMC divisions to detect and destroy mosquito breeding spots,” he said.
Administration has advisors for residents, urging them to clean and dry water storage once a week, take care of all resistant water storage units covered and keep a clean place to curb the spread of diseases transmitted through vectors.
