Nashik: Police Commissioner Nashik Deepak Pandey will inaugurate Warung Ganesh made by Nashik Road Central Prison inmates on Friday.
More than 600 Ganesh idols from the height of two and three feet have been prepared.
Supervisor Nashik Road Central Praus Pramod Waggh said that the speciiaty this year was the low price of idols made of Shadu clay.
Over the past few years, prison inmates have prepared idols in front of the Ganesh festival.
They have received an extraordinary response from residents.
There is a high demand for idols made from Shadu clay because it is environmentally friendly and can be immersed even at home.
Prison authorities said that they did not compete with other kiosk owners and were not looking to produce profits.
Citizens approach prison authorities for idols.
In 2017, inmates had prepared 150 idols for the first time and set the kiosk.
They are accepted with enthusiasm.
A year later, almost 1,000 idols are prepared.
In 2019, the inmates made 800 years ago, due to the Covid-19 pandemic and restrictions on celebrations, the number of idols was increased to 550.
This year, only 600 idols were prepared.
The Prison Authority said that some inmates, were experts in making these idols, freed with parole due to Covid-19 pandemic.
The prison authority said that the remaining artists had worked since December last year to prepare idols for the Ganesh festival this year.
Other senior officials from prison will also be present at the inauguration of the Kiosk of God Ganapati on Friday.
