Nashik: District panel on suicide farmers on Thursday approved government assistance to Kin from seven cultivators who had taken extreme steps due to financial burden.
District panels, consisting of police chiefs, health, cooperative, baking and income among other departments, making decisions at meetings led by Suraj Mandare collector.
“The panel discussed seven cases presented earlier and found them original.
Therefore, it gave Ned Government Assistance sanctions,” said Popatrao Sonawane, officers with the branch of the District Administration Tancai.
Three of the seven cases came from Baglan Taluka and each of which came from Nashik, Deola, Niphad and Surgaana Talukas.
Since January 2021, Nashik District has so far witnessed 14 farmer suicide cases.
Of these, 10 cases have been decided for farmers.
In accordance with government resolution, RS1 Lakh assistance is given to the relatives of the farmers.
An official said 70% of the aid in the bank as a fixed deposit and interest was available for members of the farmer’s family.
The official added that 30% of cash was given to relatives.
