New Delhi: Nation on Tuesday remembers “Galwan’s dashing” who associated with heroes against Chinese troops who were numerically superior, armed with nail-studded stems and other sharp weapons, in Galwan Valley in East Ladakh on June 15 last year.
Colonel Bikumalla Santosh Babu, a 16-Bihar officer who commanded, was annumously awarded the highest Galantry Maha VIR medal in the country by President of RAM Nath Kovind at the investment ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
The wife and mother of Col Babu received a medal.
Naib Subordin Nuduram Soren (16 Bihar), Havildar K Puni (81 field regiments), ride Deepak Singh (the Medical Corps of the Army) and Sepoy Gurtej Singh (3 Punjab), in turn, was annumously awarded VIR Chakra.
