New Delhi: National plastic surgery on July 15 will be celebrated throughout the world as world plastic surgery, according to the Association of Plastic Surgeons in India (APSI).
The decision came after the current APSI president, Dr.
Rakesh Khazanchi, talked about the success of national plastic surgery in India in the World Leader Council – the presidential meeting of plastic surgeons from various countries.
The concept of the National Plastic Surgery was first introduced by Dr.
S King Sabapathy, President of the Indian Plastic Surgeon Association, in 2011.
He conceptualized the idea of celebrating that day and chose July 15 as the appropriate date.
All plastic surgeons in the country did one free operation to help many people on that day, said APSI in a statement.
In India, most plastic operations carried out are reconstructive operations.
