New Delhi: Following China’s reference to Quad as ‘NATO Asian’, Minister of External Affairs (EAM) Jaisankar on Saturday said NATO was the “back term” while the quad was “ahead.” At the 2nd + 2 meeting between India and Australia here, the foreign minister and defense of the two countries discussed various interested bilateral, regional and global problems.
“Quad (quadrilateral security dialogue) is a platform where 4 countries come to work together for their profits and benefits in the world.
I think terms like NATO (by China) are the term cold war, looking back, looking forward..
This reflects Globalization and coercion of the state to work together, “said Eam Jaishankar while responding to questions about China which refers to Quad as ‘Asia NATO’.
Quoting various fields of cooperation between National Nations, Eam Jaisanhankar spoke against misinterpression of reality and said that there was no relationship between the term NATO and Quad.
“If you see a quad problem it has focused on today like a vaccine, supply chain, I can’t see relationships with NATO or other organizations.
I think it’s important not to misinterpret what is out there,” he said.
Adding what Eam Jaisanhar said, Australian Foreign Minister Marise Payne stated that “Jaishankar has explained and articulates the response very well.” “When Australia and India have a malicious back relationship, there is also an opportunity to work through small groups such as Quad and other regional architectural pieces such as the East Asia Summit and the ASEAN Regional Forum.” He said quad members were champions from the Sentrality of ASEAN and were actively involved in the regional architecture.
“We have a positive and practical agenda, as Minister Jaishanakar mention a number of these initiatives around the vaccine, around the climate and critical technology.” Previously today, Defense Minister Eam Jaisankar and Defense Rajnath Singh held talks 2 + 2 here with their Australian partners Marise Payne and Peter Dutton.
