Bhubaneswar: Andhra Pradesh has three great hopes as a result of a Tuesday meeting between the main minister of Naveen Patnaik and YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, AP official said.
Sources say Andhra Pradesh has asked Odisha to work together to conduct a joint survey under the supervision of the Central Air Commission (CWC) and submit more than 106 hectares of land needed earlier because of the neradi series proposed to be built throughout the Vamsadhara River.
Second, neighboring countries have appealed to Odisha to conduct gram Sabhas and help complete resettlement packages and rehabilitation (R & R) in Odisha for the Janjhavathi reservoir project on the Janjhavathi River.
Third, has requested status-quo in Kotia given the fact that the institutional mechanism is needed considering the intricacies involved.
A senior officer at the AP CM Office said the CMS of Odisha and AP on July 18, 1961, January 15, 1987 and June 10, 1992 have approved the construction of water sharing a series of neradi in the ratio of two countries that limit the land acquisition to 106 acre in Odisha.
This is a win-win situation for both countries because Odisha will get guaranteed irrigation facilities for 9,600 hectares for three plants in a year.
Indicates that the water reservoir Janjhavathi will also be distributed between the two countries in the ratio of 50:50 in accordance with the inter-country agreement on September 24, 1975 and December 15, 1978, the officer said the water would benefit the dominant tribal population in both countries.
According to the decision taken at a meeting between countries held in Bhubaneswar on December 23, 2002 that the total immersion area included the water effect of returning in Odisha because Janjhavathi would be 1175.10 hectares.
Of this 848.76 hectare is government land and 326.34 hectares are private land.
