Thane: Two police officers from Navi Mumbai, including a senior inspector were arrested by the Thane Anti-Corruption Bureau in the case of bribery on Thursday, the official release said.
Senior Inspector Jairaj Chaparia and Constable Iqbal Shaikh were ordered under the prevention of the Corruption Court, said ACB.
Shaikh allegedly demanded Rs 45,000 from a man to allow him to continue to run the business of Paan Masala.
After allegedly receiving RS 20,000, he demanded the other RS 32,500 including Rs 25,000 for senior officials, ACB said.
After the man filed a complaint, Thane ACB put the trap and arrested Shaikh while allegedly accepting bribes.
Chaparia Inspector was held for further downsizing and investigation, he said.
