Navi Mumbai: Civic’s body to supply water treated to industry in Thane-Laktur Belt

Navi Mumbai: Two tertiary processing plants from Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) in Koparkhairie and Airoli, which are in the final stages of completion, will provide recycled water to the industry along the Thane-Salfur industrial corridor.
According to NMMC, both plants will supply around 40 million liters per day-20 MLL every plant – water treated to the industry immediately.
At present, MIDC supplies 50 MLD water at Rs 22.50 per cubic meter, while NMMC has decided to provide 40 months of water to the industrial area at Rs 18.50 per cubic meter.
This will lead to substantial savings for industrial and MIDC units can divert 40 MB of water to other areas in the Mumbai Metropolitan region.
Tertiary processing plants have been designed with advanced technology such as ultra-filtration and ultra-violet.
NMMC sources say that the quality of this process is processed according to the standards set by MPCB and CPCB.
The government has sanctioned ambitious and moderately financed yojana amhersi by the center (50%), the state government (25%) and NMMC (25%).
A civilian official said that a MoU between NMMC and MIDC had also been signed.
In accordance with the agreement, water treated will be given to industrial units in the Trans-Thaye Creek (TTC) corridor at Rs 18.50 per cubic meter.
With this, NMMC will get Rs 494 Crore income in the next 15 years.
Both Koparkhairie and Airoli have a capacity of 87.50 MLD and 80 MLD waste water processing water disposal and 20 months will be treated further in each tertiary plant to make it according to the needs of the TTC industrial area.
“The Koparchairie factory is ready, while the Airoli plant is in the final stage.
Works on 83km pipes from plants to industrial areas and at the main line of 24.4km also in the final phase,” said Commissioner NMMC Abhijit Bangar.
Working on creating a 1.75 MLD water tank in Koparkhairie, 1.70 MLD in Airoli, 2.50 MLD in Vashi, 1.50 MLD in Mahape, and 0.75 months in Nibban Hill in the final stage.
About 380 MLD waste is being produced in Navi Mumbai.
The city engineer NMMC Sanjay Desai said, “NMMC has seven c-tech-based wastewater treatment plants.
It should be the most advanced cycle waste technology in the world and also environmentally friendly.”
