Navi Mumbai: A 19-year-old woman who has submitted a rape case is among the five captured for allegedly filed a complaint “wrong” and for extortion.
Teenagers, his mother, brother, uncle and social workers have been arrested for receiving Rs 2.5 lakh from the family of men who were accused of rape, the police said.
The fifth was in the police custody until Saturday.
Teenagers accused a 43-year-old software engineer in October 18.
He was hired to take care of his mother lying on the bed.
The teenager claimed that the man took him to shop and offered his food full of sedatives and attacked him sexually.
Teenagers have filed complaints of rape at the NRI Coastal Police Station on October 25.
The man has been filed in Taloja prison.
Immediately after, the man’s wife approached the police with a telephone conversation record with a social worker who supported the beating of rape.
The wife claimed that social workers demanded Rs 14 lakh to draw rape cases.
A police put a trap placed and caught by five people – social workers, teenagers, mothers, brothers and sisters -Sepeption Rs 2.50 lakh as the initial payment of the wife accused.
Senior Inspector Ravindra Patil said that five people had been arrested on the basis of CCTV recordings from Sweet Mart in Ulwe where the teenager went away with the man.
