Moscow: The Russian Navy has begun to track US Naval Commandos in the Black Sea, the news agent quoting the Defense Ministry said on Thursday, in the midst of tensions over NATO activities near the Russian border.
“The troops and facilities of the Black Sea have begun to monitor the actions of the Whitney Mountain Command ship, who entered the Black Sea Zone on November 4,” the TASS news agency to quote the Ministry of Defense.
The US Navy said on Monday that the USS Mount Whitney had arrived in Istanbul and will soon join other vessels in the Black Sea.
President Vladimir Putin said on Monday that the Russian forces could observe Mount Whitney “through binoculars or in defense system weapons (they)”.
On Tuesday, the Black Sea Fleet said his ships had practiced destroying the target of the enemy and that the air defense system had been given a vigilant at his base in Novorossiysk and in Crimea, the Russian-annexed Black Sea Peninsula from Ukraine in 2014.
Russia, which was cut off with bonds NATO last month, often complained about the activity of alliances close to the border or in what he called the post-Soviet influence.
