Sukma: Naxal was killed in a meeting with security personnel in the Sukma Chhattisgarh district on Tuesday morning, a official said.
Personnel belonging to the Reserve Guard (DRG) district of Sukma, Dantewada and Bastar, were involved in the operation that was still ongoing, he said.
Acting on specific inputs about the existence of members of the Best Division Committee CPI (Maois) along with 35-40 cadres in the forest in the tri-intersection of three districts, security forces from three regions have launched the operation there on Monday night, Sukma Police Supervisor Sunil Sharma told PTI.
“Around 6:45 a.m., the shootout broke out between ultras and one of the patrol teams in the Marjum Hills below the boundary of the Tongpal police station”, he said.
“So far, one ultra body recovered from that place while the operation was still ongoing because Naxal hid on the upper side of the hill,” Sharma said, adding that further details were awaited.
SP said there was no harm in being reported to security forces in the operation.
