New Delhi: News Broadcasters Association on Friday submitted a writing request in Kerala HC, challenging cable television network (regulation) Act, 1995, cable television network rules, 1994 and cable television networks (amendments), 2021 on the grounds that the law and rules are Violations of the basic rights of equality and freedom of speech.
In a statement, the NBA said the main challenge transferred by the Association was Rulles18 to 20 of the amendment regulations, 2021 which created the “supervision mechanism” that gave executives “uncovered strength and excessive to regulate the broadcasting TV channel content”.
“The redressal complaints structure made and delegated force has a ‘cold effect’ on the content of the media,” he said.
The NBA also challenges parts of the program code and advertising code from cable TV rules, saying they “surpass the provisions of Article 19 (2) Constitution”.
It was said that HC issued orders that support the NBA and its members direct the government to refrain from taking the action of coercion against the announcer because it did not comply with the rules of the cable television network (amendment), 2021 until the petition was delayed.
