New Delhi: A day after the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting requested the Broadcast (Barc) Audience Research Council to immediately release television rating points (TRP) for the news channel and count data as a four-week rolling average, news broadcasters and digital associations (NBDA) said the stand Has “justified” because of the government’s order “recognizes the need for improvement, recognizes the shortcomings, the need to urgently increase the sample size and systemic correction.” In a statement released on Thursday, Nbda said it appreciated reforms to make processes, protocols and supervision mechanisms at Barc India stronger.
“It was very recipient that the ministry recognized that the ranking system for TV news had the shortcomings and recorded suggestions made by NBDA.

Adding a careful note, Nbda said that while it admitted that Barc was doing some reforms, he said there was still room to make the system more transparent, strong and reliable.
“Barc must also evaluate ways to improve data security and ensure that there is no manual intervention in any step in the ranking process.
We hope before the ranking is released, these steps exist,” Nbda said.
It adds that the association will work with all stakeholders about the outlier policy purification to eliminate statistical anomalies and increase sample size to strengthen data credibility.
