New Delhi: Under the supervision of Rahul Dravid, the National Cricket Academy has changed the manual coaching, which now consists of “corporate classes” for prospective trainers about overcoming field problems, including selection pressure from various quarters.
Recently, the famous group of former first-class crickets attended BCCI level 2 training courses and also appeared for theory and practical examination.
While the coaching module has been tweaked to make it more attractive to modern coaches, what is surprising as the introduction of “corporate problem solving classes”, where petellings are asked to find a problem solving method while dealing with several off-stakeholders.
“This course has been designed by former Mumbai Seamer Kshemal (Waingkar), which is an MBA degree and has a company background.
I have never attended classes like this but it was very unique and helped me expand my horizon,” a class first-cricketer, which Attending the course, told PTI in anonymity conditions.
So, what is this corporate class? “Well, it’s about making us understand the difference between ‘bargaining’ and ‘negotiations’.
We are told that we don’t need to solve problems but need to be checked what the shooting method we use (approach) in a critical situation,” he said.
Asked to describe, he quoted an example.
“The course instructor (Kshemal) chooses two trainers – people and people B.
A person is told that he is a ‘coach’ and people B are told that he is a ‘voter’.
He gave them both worksheets.” His job is the person (b) that voters have made must include three players on the team.
He has the pressure of various stakeholders it can be a state association, someone else …
now a person, who is a coach, knows that he can only put two people in the team and one in playing XI.
“Good A and B are asked to display their” negotiation “skills where someone needs to push the case and the other needs to scrap it.” The motives are to check how they handle situations like this.
Who are all those involved coaches? Is his assistant coach? Is that captain? Or does he take help from performance analysts with data? “How do I convince coaches? Can he convince fellow voters or take the help of administrators? It’s not about who works but how does someone approach the solution?” Said player.
All Candidates for Level 2 trainers must improve at least one player such as the level-2 course completed, all candidates are now back to their respective cities and, in the next three months, must at least work with one player and prepare a project report.
“This is also an interesting part.
We all have to choose players and make complete video analysis about bowling or blows depending on our expertise.
Then we prepare a project report about what we are working on.” After we work on corrective steps, we will return to prepare the video changes we make.
So only our level 2 courses will be finished, “said another player Also attended lectures, taken by people like Sujith Somasundar, APURV Desai, Rajib Datta and Wainganakar.
“Even when we showed video players and asked to offer a solution, even Rahul Bhai would join us and try to find a problem.
He will tell us that he still feels like a student and the day he stopped learning, it would be the end of it, “another first-class player, who had played against Dravid, said.
What the best advice on Dravid surrendered to the coaches -Cita high? “He told us that as a coach, we should not do a mission of error seekers when a player comes to us.
Instead of trying to nitpick and find fault, we have to see what good quality in the player and how we can make it better.
Manual coaching at NCA is now more centric, “he said.
Some of the famous past players and attendees who attended the course was Robin Bist, Zakaria Zufri, Prabhanjan Mullick, Udaya Kaul, Sagar Jogiyani, Sarabjeet Singh, Arindam Das, Saurashis Lahiri, Ranadeb Bose, KB Pawan and Connor Williams.
