Ahmedabad: Zonal Unit of Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has solved the Mephedrone manufacturing unit in the Vari City Vari Gujarat district and arrested two people, one of them a chemist, with 4.5 kg of psychotropic drug, said an official on Wednesday.
Medications produced in units are supplied to various parts of Gujarat and the State, the AHmedabad NCB unit release states.
NCB has maintained a watch on the cartel for the past few days and conducted a raid which lasted for about 20 hours on Tuesday, the official said.
Both were accused of being arrested by red hand while giving contraband goods in the Vapi residential area, he said, adding that NCB officials confiscated 4.5 kg of Mephedrone (MD) from the duo and recovered the cash 85 lakh cash which was not countless during the raids of the different places belonging to them , Prakash Patel, a chemist from Valsad, produced Mephedrone in the unit, and Sonu Ramniwas, a genuine Haryana, was involved in drug marketing, the official said.
NCB, in its release, stated that this case was significant, as a manufacturing unit, the first in Gujarat, has been damaged and also involves the recovery of large cash and MD so large quantity.
The further probe was underway in this problem, the official said, added that NCB would look into the link from illegal drug networks.
