Ghaziabad / Noida: After oscillating between ‘very bad’ categories and ‘severe’, the air quality index in Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad increased for ‘poor’ on Monday.
Weather forecasting institutions expect a decline in agricultural fires and strong winds at the level of transportation to eliminate further assistance from Tuesday and so on.
According to the data provided by the Central Pollution Control Agency (CPCB), Aqi Ghaziabad on Monday was recorded at 254, slipping at least 65 notches since 319 the previous day.
The district was the last record of ‘poor’ – between 201 and 300 points – on October 30 (at 297).
Since then, Aqi has dropped to a dangerous level with ‘severe’ air quality which was recorded between 4 and 13 November.
The worst AQI in 486 was recorded on November 12 but since it increased in the ‘very poor’ category.
Three of the four pollution monitoring stations in the city recorded AQI in the mid range to lower than the ‘poor’ category.
While Vasundhara recorded Aqi 259, it was 225 in Indirapuram and 224 in Sanjay Nagar.
Loni in 315 continues to record AQI in the ‘very poor’ category.
In Noida, Aqi slipped more than 50 points from the previous day 322 to 270 on Monday to stand in the ‘poor’ category.
This is the best air quality recorded in the city since October 31, when registering AQI 292.
Sector-1 air monitoring station saw AQI 245, sector 125 in 265, sector-116 at 335 at 335.
Meanwhile, Noida, saw Aqi 202 on Monday, from 298 recorded a day again.
On November 3, it was last seen AQI in the ‘Poor’ category at 286.
Park-5 air monitoring station Knowledge recorded AQI 199, which was under the ‘moderate’ category, while Knowledge Park-3 recorded AQI of 215.
According to the air quality system and weather forecasting and research (Safar), the overall improvement of air quality in the region can be associated with fewer cases that burn stumps and strong winds at the transportation level.
This wind, the expert said, is likely to continue on Tuesday and further improve air quality.
However, local winds and transportation tend to slow from November 24 and so on producing a slight decline of air quality but AQI can be expected to be in a very poor “lower end” category “, experts said.
