Thiruvananthapuram: Bharat Dharma Jana Sena (BDJS), Ally Nda in the state, has called for considering people from the non-Brahmin Community as the Sabarimala Imam Temple.
However, Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB) believes that the system in Sabarimala follows the Brahmin tradition that does pujas and therefore every change must be considered a detailed discussion.
Although BDJS has actively raised this demand for a long time, BJP has not supported this request.
TDB will not make its own decisions in this case because of the sensitivity of the problem.
The current council follows a system approved by the High Court to appoint Brahmana as a priest at the temple.
President TDB N Vasu has promised to consider it through the right discussion.
“If all parts of society do not mind, we can make a decision after the right consideration.
The decision in this case will not happen soon,” Vasu said.
In 2017, the government led by CPM made a decision to appoint non-Brahmin priests at the temples under the TDB and appointed 36 non-brahmins, including six Dalits, as a priest.
LDF holds that reservations are not the main consideration for non-brahmanal elections and those who have knowledge in rituals appointed as priests.
