Pune: More than 4.94 lakh of a total of 36.5 beneficiaries of the lakh throughout the countryside still have not received their first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine, according to the latest report Zilla Parishad’s (ZP).
So far, 31.56 Lakh beneficiaries have received their first dose, the ZP report said.
The Senior ZP Health Office official held a meeting on Saturday to discuss this issue and decided to intensify the drive of vaccination in 13 Talukas and 14 city councils.
“We have prepared a list of people who are not vaccinated with the help of grampanchayat.
Our health staff will go to their home, bring them to the nearest vaccination center to ensure everyone in vaccinated districts,” said Dr.
Abhay Tidke, leading the district immunization officer.
ZP officials said they had planned micro drive vaccination.
“Some villages have shared their undiscidison list.
We will vaccinate them in priority,” Tidke said.
So far, 275 villages of a total of 1,835 villages in the district have reached 100% vaccination coverage.
“Many villages have reached more than 80 -90% vaccination in the district,” Tidke said.
Ayush Prasad, ZP chief executive, said the district has a floating population or migration around seven lakh and most of these people go during locking.
“We can’t trace them when we try to track them to drive vaccinations.
As a result, the number of people who are not vaccinated more than 4.94 lakh,” added Prasad.
He also said that some villagers, especially in the Talukas tribe, were reluctant to be vaccinated due to lack of consciousness.
“We have tied local leaders and people to create awareness between them and hope to resolve vaccinations in these villages in the coming days,” he added.
Zilla Parishad has more than 275 vaccination centers in all districts.
It also launched a special vaccination drive for people lying in bed, pregnant, and disabled to speed up the drive, officials said.
