New Delhi: The Supreme Court Judge Hakim your U Lalit has stated the need to ensure legal protection for marginalized parts of the community.
Justice Lalit, who is also the executive chairman of the National Law Service Authority, said the state legal service authority is bound to ensure legal assistance to weaker parts of the community, including women and children.
He spoke in the legal awareness camp and exhibition, for the susceptible parts of the community, organized by the Kerala state legal service authority in Vellar Craft Village, Thiruvananthapuram, as part of Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav.
“Although many programs are carried out by the United States Union and the state government to provide legal assistance to the marginalized parts of the community, the results do not reach beneficiaries because they are not aware of the existence of the scheme,” Justice Lalit said.
Legal service authorities are a task that is bound to regulate facilities to ensure that legal aid activities reach for people who meet the requirements through legal service institutions, he said.
“Legal service institution services will reach every corner and corner of the state.
The Constitution provides free legal assistance for each and every citizen who qualifies.
Therefore there must be a program to make enough beneficiaries capacity to utilize the benefits by giving awareness,” he said.
On Sunday, Justice Lalal inaugurated the Mega Legal Services camp in Kanyakumari in Tamil Nadu and marked five cellular vans which would travel through various parts of the southern state to spread awareness of citizens.
While inaugurating the camp as part of the ongoing Pan-Indian campaign, Justice Lalit said the Covid-19 pandemic had not dampened the spirit of legal service institutions and but raised spirits to make more and better.
Previously on Saturday, Justice Latal launched a national legal awareness program, ‘Empowerment of women through legal awareness in Varanasi.
Awareness program is being carried out by the National Law Service Authority in collaboration with the Women’s National Commission and State Law Service Authority.
During the prime session, the Supreme Court Judge D Y Chandrachud also joined the first session through video conferencing.
At the event held in Varanasi, several other main judges Judge Vikram Nath, Krishna Murari, judge, chairman of Judge Allahabad HC Hakim Rajesh Bindal also attended, among others.
