Lahore: Chairman of the Pakistani Cricket Council Ramiz King on Monday said in 2023 the Asian Cup in Pakistan would be a 50 over competition.
He spoke with digital PCB after returning from Dubai, where he also met the control board for cricket in Indian officials (BCCI).
“ACC has agreed and agreed that the events of 2023 in Pakistan will be a 50-over competition and will be held in September.
This is very well aligned with a world cup of Cricket ICC male 2023, which will be held in October and November,” said the king in Official release.
“We look forward to accommodating this tournament in Pakistan and I am sure it will be a well-organized event because this is what fans want,” he added.
ACC has also confirmed next year’s tournament in Sri Lanka will be played on a 20-over format and will be the start to the 2022 T20 T20 World Cup which will be held in Australia from October 16 to November 13.
In Ramiz King said: “ACC is formed to create an integrated approach and a collective attitude so we have one voice and if there is a situation, all stand together.
I want to see our relationship with other boards and ACC becomes strong.
That if there is a problem, like that We have with withdrawal of several sides, strong statements and joints can come out of the ACC platform.
“My message in ACC is that we should not forget this philosophy and I am optimistic there will be better results in the future.
“At his meeting with BCCI officials, Ramiz King said:” I met President BCCI Souruly and Secretary Jay Shah on the sidelines of the ACC meeting.
We need to make cricket bonds, while I also believe that politics must stay away from sports as much as possible and this has always been our attitude.
“” A lot of work needs to be done to revitalize Pakistani-Indian cricket but there needs to be some comfortable levels between two boards and then we can see how far we can go.
