‘Need to stop damage to children’s welfare’

New Delhi: The Delhi government will recommend the reopening of schools in the national capital in DDMA meeting because it is now necessary to prevent further damage to the social and emotional welfare of children, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said on Wednesday.
By asserting that online education has never been able to replace offline education, Sisodia said the government has closed the school when it is not safe for children, but excessive caution now harms students.
Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) has held a meeting on Thursday to intentional to facilitate the sidewalk in the national capital given the enhanced Covid-19 situation.
The problem of reopening the school is also on the agenda.
“In the past two years, the lives of school children have been locked in their rooms.
Instead of going to school and spending time in the playground, all their activities now only take place on the cellphone.” Pandemic-induced school closure is not only affected by their studies but also their mental health.
During Covid, our priority is children’s safety.
But because various studies now find that Covid is not so dangerous for children, it is important to reopen the school, as it is now the time for the exam and related preparation, “Sisodia said.
Sisodia, who holds the education portfolio, said that the school was being reopened In some countries and even many Indian countries.
“On this basis, the Delhi Government will recommend the reopening of the school in the DDMA meeting scheduled for January 27,” he said.
“While Covid cases and the level of participants are in the decline.
In Delhi, it will not be suitable to keep children from school.
With children who return to school, not only schools will witness buzz but will also indicate life back to their tracks, “he said.
Previously today, the delegation of parents led by Chandrakan Lahariya, an epidemiologist and public policy specialist, Meet Sisodia and submit a memorandum signed by more than 1,600 parents demanding that schools be reopened.
“Why are we the last among major countries to decide this? I agree with their demands.
One generation of children will be abandoned if we do not open our school now, “added Sisodia.
Lahariya shows that according to AIIMS, ICMR, Indian Pediatric Academy, Niti Aayog, who and several other organizations related to Covid are very few among children .
“School closure has several advantages but the negative impact on children’s learning and mental well-emotional well-being.
Therefore, the reopening of the school is the need to cry at the hour, “he said.
