NEET: O Panneerselvam writes to Modi again

CHENNAI: AIADMK coordinator O Panneerselvam on Thursday urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to exempt Tamil Nadu from the common entrance examination, including NEET and allow the state to admit students to various courses based on the marks obtained in higher secondary examination — and for this year, the marks to be awarded by the committee set up by the state government.
In a letter to Modi, a copy of which was released to the media, the former chief minister said the state had bagged the highest grade of A++ in the Performance Grading Index of the states and union territories for the year 2019-20 released by the department of school education and literacy, Union ministry of education.
“According to the index, released by the Union government, taking into account various parameters, the standard of education is extremely good,” OPS said.
He said that there was no need to test the ability of the students by conducting entrance examinations for admission to all professional and other courses including medical courses.
This is the second letter from the former chief minister to Modi in less than a week against NEET.
