Jaipur: Solar energy capacity in Rajasthan has crossed a 10,000 megawatt milestone, accounts for 20% of the total capacity in this country.
Already state No.
1 In terms of capacity, Rajasthan’s advantage over Karnataka and Gujarat is increasing.
Additional Chief Secretary (Mine, Oil, Energy) and CMD from RREC Subodh Agarwal said in accordance with the data issued by the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy, Rajasthan has reached more than 10GW to add solar capacity.
“After the launch of renewable energy policies, the Surya Sector Scenario has changed dramatically.
In a three-year period, an additional capacity of 6.552MW has been developed.
From 49GW installing solar capacity in this country, Rajasthan alone developed 10.5GW until now,” he said.
‘New projects to determine the position of Raj as the largest solar hub said the state would be the main contributor to achieving the ambitious target of the center of the 500gw renewable energy capacity in 2030 which was announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Recently, the state government signed a letter of intention and MoU with public sector companies and private investors for a large number of projects.
“New project pipes are very strong and increasingly tighten the position of the country as the largest solar center in the country,” Agarwal added.
According to the report, Karnataka is the second highest with a capacity of 7.534mW and Gujarat in third place (6.309mw).
Of the total 10.506MW in Rajasthan, projects installed on the ground contributed 9.552MW, 668MW of the roof capacity and 296MW developed through an offgrid solar system.
Members of the solar industry in the state said while the availability of barren and semi-fertile land has become the main driver of new projects, the manufacturing segment has not balanced generation.
“We want to see the government reach the manufacturer to make solar components such as cells, panels and inverters.
Unless manufacturing increases, the benefits for the country will remain limited,” said an industrial representative.
