KATHMANDU: Nepal’s Election Commission has proposed that the government headed by embattled Prime Minister K P Sharma Oli to run the mid-term elections slated for November 12 and 19 in one stage to avoid the additional spread of coronavirus infections during electioneering.
Following an interview with Prime Minister K P Oli on Saturday,” Chief Election Commissioner Dinesh Kumar Thapaliya stated it’s Election Commission’s inherent obligation to successfully run polls after the date was announced.
“We have ample time for prep and have indicated to the authorities to run the election in one stage,” Thapaliya was quoted as stating in a report within my Republica.
From the interview, the agents of the Election Commission also proposed to the authorities to make a favorable political atmosphere for both elections, preserve security and peace, and stop the spread of Covid-19 infections amongst other people, ” it stated.
Nepal’s President Bidya Devi Bhandari piled the House of Representatives on Saturday for the second time in five weeks and declared snap elections on November 12 and November 19 to the recommendation of prime minister Oli.
