New Delhi: The Pil at the Supreme Court on Monday asked for the Samajwadi Party to deploy a criminal, Nahid Hasan, as a candidate for the constituency of Cairana in the assembly poll with strict norms that was formulated by SC and also looking for similar actions against other parties.
Persistent Pil Applicants Ashwini Upadhyay, who had claimed the Link with BJP, looked for directions to EC to ensure compliance with parties mandating pairs 13 February 2020 to publish a person’s criminal anteceden within 48 hours named as a candidate.
He alleged that even though SP made Hasan, allegedly a gangster who faced many criminal cases, the party had not obeyed SC instructions and explained why he decided to involve criminals as candidates.
